Baylor Growing Choice Among Merit Scholars

Figures released by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation show that the number of National Merit Scholars enrolled at Baylor in fall 2006 placed the University among the top 30 educational institutions in the United States. Baylor's 82 National Merit Scholars, 16 more than were enrolled in fall 2005, placed the University at No. 28 among 97 schools enrolling 20 or more freshmen Merit Scholars. Only three Big 12 universities – Texas, Oklahoma and Texas A&M – had more Scholars enrolled, and Baylor's total was higher than schools including UC-Berkeley, Dartmouth, Cornell, Columbia, Notre Dame, Georgetown and Cal Tech.
